SustainMe is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable women, children and families to rise above poverty and gender-based barriers. We restore dignity and opportunity through holistic social and economic empowerment. We achieve our mission by focusing on six core areas: economic empowerment, disability care and support, girls empowerment, health and nutrition, women’s rights advocacy, education and literacy.
Our vision is to see women and children break free from the cycle of poverty and gender-based barriers — empowered to live with dignity, equality, and opportunity.
We achieve this by providing sustainable skills, advocating for women’s and girls’ rights, serving children living with multiple and complex disabilities, delivering inclusive empowerment programs, and creating access to vital social and economic opportunities.
WHAT WE DO
WOMEN’S AND GIRLS’ RIGHTS
SustainMe protects and empowers vulnerable women and girls by promoting their rights, preventing gender-based violence, raising community awareness, and creating safe spaces where they can access support, protection, referrals, and opportunities to build confidence and leadership.
DISABILITY CARE AND SUPPORT
SustainMe supports children living with multiple and complex disabilities through basic care, medical and therapy services, sponsorship, See Me Safe spaces, and wheelchair access. We also support caregivers through connection, advocacy, and ongoing support.
ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Economic Empowerment Programme supports vulnerable women, including survivors of violence, widows, grandmothers, single mothers, widows, and women living with disabilities, to build financial independence through access to capital, savings groups, entrepreneurship training, livelihood opportunities, and business mentorship.
ELSOM STAR GIRLS EMPOWERMENT
Elsom Star Girls Empowerment Programme supports vulnerable rural teenage girls through mentorship, leadership development, life skills, sexual and reproductive health education, career guidance, and safe spaces, helping girls realise their dreams, build confidence, and thrive towards becoming independent women.
HEALTHCARE AND NUTRITION
Promoting healthier families through improved access to healthcare, nutrition, hygiene, and community health support, with a focus on vulnerable women and children, maternal and child health, and household food security.
EDUCATION AND LITERACY
Education is a powerful tool for breaking cycles of poverty and vulnerability. Supporting women and children through community library, literacy and reading programmes, vocational and entrepreneurship skills, and education sponsorship.

We deliver our programmes through practical, community-based models that create opportunities for women and children to rise out of poverty and gender-based violence, build confidence, restore dignity, strengthen independence and create brighter futures.
Women Empowerment Clubs
Women Empowerment Clubs provide safe, supportive and collective spaces where women build confidence, strengthen financial independence, start and grow livelihoods, develop leadership skills and take collective action against poverty and gender based violence.
Esuubi Her Skills Centre
Esuubi Her Skills Centre empowers vulnerable women and out-of-school girls with vocational and entrepreneurship skills, mentorship and opportunities to build income and confidence. We specialise in sewing, with women producing and selling Tunga Collections bags and products.
Community Library & Reading on Wheels
We bring books and reading opportunities closer to children in underserved communities through community library spaces, mobile reading outreach, children’s reading activities and book access points.
Star Girls Gathering
Star Girls Gatherings create safe and empowering spaces where rural teenage girls receive mentorship, life skills, leadership development, rights education and career guidance through monthly gatherings. Through connection and peer support, girls build confidence, make informed decisions and develop the skills to shape their futures
See Me Disability Safe Space
See Me Disability Safe Space provides a safe and inclusive environment where children living with multiple disabilities and their caregivers receive support, care and connection. Through therapy and rehabilitation, medical support, nutrition, counselling, reading and caregiver support, we help children and families build confidence, restore dignity and thrive.
