At just five months old, Baby Rayan and his four siblings were tragically abandoned by their mother. Left in the care of their grandmother, Baby Rayan’s future seemed uncertain from the very start. When we met him at eleven months, his condition was heartbreaking.
Sick with a severe eye infection and visibly malnourished, Baby Rayan’s tiny body had been struggling to survive. His health was deteriorating rapidly. We learned that for the past few months, he had been surviving on nothing but tea, his only source of nourishment.
Previously, the family had relied on milk from a cow donated by the village, but sadly, the cow passed away, leaving them without any source of milk for Baby Rayan and his siblings. Without adequate nutrition, Baby Rayan’s growth and health had been severely impacted.

As we dug deeper into their situation, we discovered the family’s grim reality: they were surviving on just one meal a day—boiled cassava with no added nutrients. Water was another struggle, as the nearest water source was a difficult 5 kilometers away, and they only had one jerry can to carry what little they could collect.
Our first step was to act quickly. We took Baby Rayan to see a nurse, who began assessing his health and provided immediate care. We also supplied the family with Huel food supplements, which Baby Rayan eagerly accepted—he even made sure not to share it with the chickens around him, showing just how hungry he truly was.
But this is just the beginning of Baby Rayan’s story.
Over the coming weeks, we will continue to support Baby Rayan and his family—providing the medical care, nutrition, and essentials they so desperately need. But we can’t do it alone. We need your help to ensure that Baby Rayan, his siblings, and their grandmother have a chance at a better future.
