Ruth Kabatale is widow of 52 years old and cares for 3 grandchildren. Ruth’s story would be the same today if it wasn’t for your continued support and SustainME. She lost her husband due to HIV/AIDS years ago and since then, she tried all options to provide for her family which was very difficult since her family’s breadwinner had passed on.
Struggling everyday to provide for her medical bills, a meal, shelter, school fees for her grandchildren and other basics was her main daily challenges that kept her in tears for years. Much as she was going through a lot of pain and challenges, no one cared about her and the grandchildren until our social worker made a weekly visit to meet up with a women’s group in the community that she learnt about Ruth’s story.
It has been 3 years now ever since Ruth joined SustainME Women Empowerment Program. She evidently shares with us about how she is now living a better life with her grandchildren. Ruth told us that “You indeed came to my rescue, i would be miserable if it wasn’t for your help. With the skills and the start up loans i received, i used it to get my grocery business running and overtime it has grown to get me to where i am today. I can now afford to feed my family more than one meal a day yet after the death of my husband, we would hardly get a meal“.
As an organization, we know we can’t bring change to the community without the support of the generous people around the world. The Smiles, the stories of change and the lives transformed all come because of the kind people like you.
We want to say thank you very much for the amazing support, together we can bring change to community and the lives of the vulnerable women and their families.
