Thank you Northwestern University Interns

Last summer we hosted 4 interns including Rebecca, Tyler, Leana and Sikandar from Northwestern University through partners FSD Uganda. We are so much excited that for the great and amazing job that our interns accomplish in empowering the vulnerable women and families fight poverty. During their two month period of working with Sustain Micro Enterprise, the interns conducted community assessment and research through which they were able to come up with a project focusing on improving health and building skills of the vulnerable women and their families.

The interns participated in the following activities; training women on setting up tippy taps to prevent hygiene related illnesses and they in addition helped each woman to set up a tippy tap at her home. The interns did set up Kamu Kamu Skills and Trade Centre where the vulnerable women meet to acquire a several skills in hair dressing, sewing and crafts and also carry out business within the same skills. Sensitizing the vulnerable women and their families on health related issues such as malaria and typhoid, lessons on trash management and bush clearance were among the many other activities that were accomplished.

We can’t thank this team enough for the great impact they left in the communities and how women’s lives were transformed because of their wonderful work. Thank you very much Tyler, Rebecca, Sikandar and Leana for the amazing work you did at Sustain Micro Enterprise, you surely made a difference.
